New Avex Female Idol Group: Tokyo Joshiryu

Avex has launched a new female idol group in the Japanese industry: a five-member unit called Tokyo Joshiryu, also known as TOKYO GIRLS' STYLE.

This is the first group created by the label since SweetS, which was formed in 2003. The five members of this new group were unveiled one per day, starting on January 1st, and their official website, which includes a picture of the whole group, was launched on the 6th.

Tokyo Joshiryu consists of five girls ranging from 11 to 13 years old: leader Miyu Yamabe, Ayano Konishi, Hitomi Arai, Yuri Nakae and Mei Shoji. Avex will not limit their activities to Japan only, as they plan to release the group in the whole of Asia.

No word has been released yet regarding their debut CD, though the group already has their first live performance scheduled to take place at Shibuya O-Nest on February 7th. They have also already opened a blog, a Twitter account and their own community on mixi.jp.
